5 Benefits of working with an Image Consultant

The other day I was speaking to a very nice lady that I met and we were discussing fashion, style and image consulting. My favorite subjects. While she was familiar with image consultants and personal stylist, she associated them more with celebrities than every day people like you and I. Of course I explained the benefits that she could gain from working with an Image Consultant.

This started me to think that there may be many women out there who are wondering how they might benefit from working with an Image Consultant. Let me share my 5 benefits that I shared with her and you see if any may fit your current situation.

1. Unhappy with the effects of aging on the body? Guess who can show you how to use clothes, accessories and makeup techniques to turn the clock back. Image consultants are the magicians of non-surgical ways for you to look younger and more fit.
2. Instead of using 10% of your wardrobe, you could be using 100% with the help of an image consultant. You won’t need to find more storage space when you hire a professional who will edit your closet and leave you with items that fit, flatter, and express qualities about yourself that you’re proud to share with the world.
3. Need to freshen up your wardrobe but hate to shop? An image consultant will make this easy! She’ll select things that you never even thought to try on before and you’ll end up with a wardrobe that exceeds your expectations. When she takes care of this for you, you get to completely forget about clothes and go through your days and weeks with confidence.
4. Your cost-per-wear on purchases goes way down when your consultant can show you 5 terrific ways to wear a new jacket and 15 ways to wear a pair of pants.
5. Worried about age discrimination in the job force? Image consultants are the next in line to call after the headhunter. An image consultant knows how to help you be the person who could fit into a younger culture just by the right wardrobe selections.

So,does image consulting cure all the ails of the world? Of course not. But looking good and feeling great about yourself can be a cure for what ails you. Don’t put yourself and your personal needs on hold for one more day. You deserve to get dressed – not just in clothes, but also in style – your style.

Putting Your Best Foot Forward
October 12th, 2010

We all experience those times when it’s imperative that we look our best. Maybe we want to look our best for a job interview or meeting the potential in-laws or prospecting for business in a new market. When people meet us for the first time and the stakes are high, that’s when it’s important to have everything working in our favor. Don’t leave your appearance and what you’ll wear to last minute decisions. When you’ve done the best you can to prepare for this special moment, you can relax and be your best. Here’s a handy checklist to keep you primed for positive results.

o Get a fresh haircut and if you color your hair, be sure you get your roots touched up before the big important date.

o Men and women can both benefit from taming and trimming their eyebrows. Make an appointment with a makeup artist.

o If you’re buying a new outfit, give yourself enough time to have every item tailored to fit your body perfectly. Alterations often take a week to be completed.

o Men don’t need to shave off facial hair but they may need a grooming lesson. Because skin can be dry and flakey, consider using a cleanser instead of a bar of soap to wash your face. Follow up with a moisturizer for healthy looking skin.

o Take a look at the bag you’re carrying. “Green” is in but using canvas totes that advertise random products or stores need to stay at home. Men can look into using a shoulder bag (www.timbukt2.com).

o If you want to impress someone, don’t stray too far from your comfort zone. Avoid the disaster of walking with little confidence in high heels if you usually wear flats. Find a moderate height that won’t change your stride too much. If you buy new shoes for this special day, take some time to break them in. If it’s a long walk from a parking lot to the meeting place, you don’t want to be distracted by a blister forming on your ankle.

o Men and women can benefit from a trip to the shoe repair shop. Shined shoes, with refurbished soles if needed, will help you feel at ease.

o Women, if you’re wearing hose, put on a fresh pair.

o Do you wish you’d said no to those last five desserts and dropped a pound or two? The right undergarments can make it look like you did just that. Spanx is one of those slimming, trimming undergarments and they are made for men and women. No one needs to know the truth but you!

Follow these tips and you’ll get it right every time while making a great impression.
