10 Things That Keep Teachers from Doing their Jobs
I recently wrote an article which, I hope, can open up some doors regarding important discussions we all need to have. Too many people have opinions about what is wrong with the public school system and how to fix those problems--unfortunately, though, many of these "opinions" are not based on reality. The most important thing we need to do is to untie the hands of those in the frontlines of education--i.e., teachers. As things stand now, though, teachers have to contend not only with many unruly, poorly-motivated students, but they also have to take on unsupportive school administrators, unhelpful parents, and clueless politicians. What they need is the ability to get rid of dangerous and blatantly unruly students (so student that want to learn can be taught without constant interruptions) and the unconditional support of everyone else. For a more detailed version of my arguments, you may read my article on Associated Content: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2...
Only by fully addressing these problems can we hope to at last tackle them effectively!
