Calling Nonprofit Entrepreneurs & Working on New Book

Even when we are trying to do something good, there is often a selfish reason behind it. Why did I just offer to work on grant proposal writing assignments for worthy nonprofit entrepreneurs with a good idea? Well, my "selfish" reason is the fact that I will be working on a new book idea in 2010, one having to do with the start-up, development and promotion of nonprofits. To that end, I will be looking for current profiles of new and established nonprofits (not just in GA), and, more importantly, the dedicated, hardworking and creative people who start and run these organizations. A major section will be devoted to these profiles, but another section of the book will also be devoted to the grant application process, hence my desire to expand my portfolio of grants I have successfuly vied for on behalf of worthy organizations. As it turns out, you really cannot delve into grants without also intimately talking about organizations, how they are created, run and promoted; after all, agencies and foundations fund organizations, as much as they fund programs. Do you know of an organization whose story needs needs to be told--maybe one you work at or started yourself? I would like to know about them, maybe include them in my book, especially if there is something unique about them, the people they serve, the programs they sponsor, and how the organization was gotten off the ground (maybe against serious odds?). I also want to let people know that Uncle Sam Publishers is working on a Who's Who of nonprofit professionals in the North GA area. In addition to organizations, therefore, I am interested in any person you think should be included in that book. Personally, I wish that such a book had been available (the guides presently available are not as detailed as what USP has in mind) when I first came to GA a few years ago; it's one way to know who one can contact, depending on what project or program one may want to propose; it is also a good way to honour all those people who put so much effort into helping others, even if there may be some "selfishness" involved, though, if any, it is usually forgivable, I would think.

If you know of a nonprofit, a nonprofit entrepreneur, or if you may soon be looking for a grant proposal writer, then please submit any pertinent information to info@unclesampublishers.org. I look forward to communicating with you and, possibly, benefiting from your assistance. Thank you for your attention and your help. PS If you are looking for a grant writer, then please see my previous blog for the form you need to fill out and send in. I am only looking for a very rough draft of your idea, but it should include as many details as possible since I will follow up only on those ideas that look doable and promising.
