Uppity Blacks and The Media Debate

"Aw shucks people, I's jus a humble man. I's hope to one day be Pres-o-dent. If'n that's okay wit you..."

Is this what the media wants? Is this what they want a Harvard Law Student, US Sentor and Democratic Nominee for President of the United States to say? No? Then why the debate on whether Barack Obama is too confident, too cocky or to sure of himself.

The McCain campaign has asserted that Obama thinks to highly of himself and his chances. Sound familiar? Are African-Americans being too sensitive or is cocky, when used in regard to Obama, a code word for uppity? Those uppity Blacks - you know the ones who think they can have what we have - freedom, education, power, wealth, respect...

What astounds me is how the media has taken up this silly talking point, repeated it and formed full debates on whether it's true.

It takes a person with some degree of ego to run for political office, especially for the highest office in the land. Most people who do run believe they can win and do the job well. So, does this latest charge mean McCain doesn't believe he can do the job? Is he just an aw shucks kindof guy who would like to hold the power of nuclear weapons - if it's not too much to ask?

I don't want a guy who has confidence issues meeting with world leaders. What's next? Obama's too smart to be president? We've already seen what happens when you let a poor student give the Oval office a whirl...

Guest Vistor Thanks!
Mwannesi Wade I'm glad you enjoyed it.
E Private Thanks for the comment. The sad thing is Democrats know the way Republicans, specifically Karl Rove, works, yet they are still letting them define the message. Then Obama has to spend the rest of the week trying to redefine and defend his position. O's campaign doesn't have to go negative, but it has to stop waiting to address McCain's ridiculous accusations. We've got to stop letting them define the issues.
