Eating To Lower Cholesterol

In addition to regular exercise, you can greatly improve your cholesterol by developing good eating habits. In fact, elevated LDL (“bad”) cholesterol (and triglycerides) is directly related to what you eat as foods that are high in saturated fat, trans fat and dietary cholesterol are associated with abnormally high levels. These fats can be found in meats, dairy foods and products that are commercially baked or fried.

On the flip side, there are certain foods that increase your HDL (“good”) cholesterol when consumed regularly. Since HDL cholesterol can actually reduce the presence of LDL cholesterol, eating foods that increase your HDL cholesterol levels can substantially improve your total cholesterol and lower your risk for health problems (click here to learn more about high cholesterol and associated health problems).
