The politics of interviews and rejection

Going to a job interview is daunting but with experience you should master the craft. Usually you can tell by the interviewer wether he or she likes you from the moment you walk in. If you you do not get the job, do not be discouraged as ususally most of the time the company may for example may not want a person of black origin which they will never admit but hey we are not naive to think discrimination doesnt happen, or could be due to the experience you may have. You will naturally develop a thick skin and take every rejection as a lesson learned to continue trying untill you get the job you want. Optimisism must be practiced even if your not it does wonders for self esteem and will soon become second nature. Its important when you join a recruitment company that you choose the best ones that are working in your interest if you hint a sense of sarcasm or if the recruitment advisor has an arrogance as if you are relying on the jobs she/he finds you as Gods words. Then leave the company and find another recruitement company at the end of the day your a client and if your not getting the best services from them you have every right to leave and say your not interested. Some recruitment advisors may even jeopordise your job chances by writing about you on your employability skills bear that in mind when you share information about yourself with them. Jobseekers are no longer desperate individuals who are the pit of society, you want to make sure you get the right job for you and any old company just will not do. If you have standards and a goal you will get the job thats right for you.

Sister Evans,
You are right on point with this comment and this is how I approached all my job interviews in the recent past. I really prepare myself for the interviews ahead of time and even write down questions in a notebook that I want to ask the employer or interviewer about the job opening, the benefits, how meetings are conducted, and the opportunity for advancement (further education). I really have enjoyed the look that many of the interviewers have on their faces after they see that I have questions.

Anyway I'm pretty contented in my present job position because it works out for me and my family as well as my current goals. I've even started working towards my Graduate degree through a distant education program thru the College Network who partnered with Regis University. This way I get to set my own deadlines and work at my own pace towards my degree.
