When Will WE Finally Take Responsibility For Our Own Ills???!!!!!
I was reading an article on Essence.com about the movie Precious and how a few of the cast memebers were up for Oscars for their work, which is a high honor. I was disturbed to see someone left a comment as to say they didn't understand why the cast would even get nominated because the movie was 'horrible'
I have a question to pose to all who are brave enought to answer, What was so horrible about it?
Why are black people in such denial about everything that hinders us EXCEPT racism from white people and the police? We are not ALWAYS the victims, you know.
Molestation goes on in black families just like it does in other nationalities and yes some black women do choose their man over their children.
We know we have anger management issues and will go to our pastors who are not equipped to handle mental and psychological issues but we will not seek professional help and then we wonder why the jails are filled with our people and they are building more jails than universities. I will admit this country has a huge problem with race but if Jr didn't have such a hot head cuz daddy wasn't there cuz he was too busy making babies all over the land and not paying for or raising any o f them and mama was working 3 jobs to keep a roof over his head and his 2 siblings and put food on the table, then Jr wounldn't be so angry as to go out and join a gang that wants to use the sense of 'family' to manipulate him into a life of crime. Now Jr has a felony, he cannot get financial aid to go to school, no one will hire him cuz he is an uneducated felon, he got his girl pregnant so now Jr is a father, a felon, uneducated and has no job, but some how its 'society's' fault. Come on people, we gotta start making some changes and it starts with us taking responsibility for our own issues and NOT always blaming the gov't and society. Society does not make us stay on welfare, they don''t make us buy expensive stuff when we do not have the bare necessities of life, a place to live, they don't make us go out and BUY expensive cars and tv's but RENT houses and use section 8 to pay the rent. That kind of behaviour is sickening but we won't talk about that will we. We won't talk about how we glorify these entertainers and atheletes that lay claim to their 'blackness' when it suits them but no longer live in the 'hood' or hang with the peeps on the block. Or how people like Diddy who are a dark my shoe but prevents dark skinned woman from auditioning for a spot in his vodka ad but I don't see anyone coming down on diddy for his blatant racial discrimination.
My point for writing all this is STOP SPITTING OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH AND ADMIT WE GOT ISSUES TOO!!!!!!!!
