I am sooo inspired

I gave a seminar tonight and about half of the crowd consisted of black business owners or wanna be owners. Usually when I give business and/or tax seminars whether it be for the IRS, CPA Society or a non profit I see maybe 1 of us out there. What impressed me even more they hammered me with questions. They felt comfortable enough to talk openly something I don't see because alot of times I hear that they are intimidated or feel that their questions are foolish. I love it love it love it. I hope to see more of it. They couldn't believe I was doing what I was doing because oftentimes what I do is reserved for either white or hispanic people hardly ever us. I can't tell you how often I hear I thought only white or hispanic (because it seems that they are the new recognized group - it's a shame cuz we built this nation but that's another blog) got the opportunities that I have. We'll see if they change it up now that a black people are gettin in :-). Until then I know I will at least keep going.

I am so glad you were inspired. We as a people need to be more informed and participate in seminars and workshops to gain knowledge. If, when you are conducting a seminar you run across people who want to start their own businesses and need a business plan or a feasibility study done to see if it is a viable business, direct them to my website at www.gleeconsultinggroup.com. I will be more than happy to speak with them.

Good Luck on all your endeavors.

I was born in New York and moved to Massachusetts. I used to wonder why there were so many white teachers in my school, working at the mall, at the doctors office where my mother used to bring me years ago. Not to mention several other occupations. I would see people of Asian or Hispanic descent as well. It made me feel that we didn't belong. As I grew older, into pre teenage era, I moved back to New York and noticed more black professionals. It made me feel like I could accomplish something bigger than what I was exposed to. Inspiration could take you to great places!

Amen Nathalie. I can't wait for us to really get over this slave past that keeps us in bondage and give white men too much credit. There is so much of slavery that we controlled but of course it wasn't passed down from generation to generation and we have been taught to believe that white people hold all power and now hispanics and asians can get it before us. If we would only aspire to be more, like you said, we would go to outstanding places. New York and Chicago had been the main mecca's for black professionals for awhile. I know in Chicago we had our first woman of color CPA who went on to help others. Thanks for your great comment.
