Find What Moves You Then Move
Have you paid attention to the one thought or image that continues to creep up to the forefront of your mind? What do you daydream about? What do you love to do without any persuasion? What moves you? Is there some thing you pursue whenever the opportunity presents itself? Does it give you pleasure and provide a sense of "release" for your mind, emotions, body or creative abilities?
Now that you have this image in mind, or if the thought of it makes you smile, then you have identified what moves you. If you wake up with it on your mind, or will do it without monetary benefit, chances are this is your passion, and it is likely linked to your purpose.
Suppose it has nothing to do with saving the world? Perhaps, it may seem insignificant to you because it doesn't require a patent or it may never receive the title of New York Times Bestseller, or it may never become a platinum CD. Perhaps your name will never be pinned in the history books or heralded as legendary. However, this passion of yours wields purpose that not only affects your life, but it impacts others.
If you are still in a discovery mode, and you haven't identified your purpose, simply get in a quiet place and pay attention to yourself. Your inner self will eventually bring to surface whatever has been suppressed and/or ignored. Many times people are perplexed about their destiny, and they find themselves dissatisfied with their current position or employment. Sometimes that sense of dissatisfaction then spills over into other parts of their lives, and ultimately affects their overall outlook on life.
Here is a simple answer to the complexity of defining one's purpose. Your purpose will always connect you to serving others. Fulfillment in life stem's from how you impact the lives of those in your circle of influence. Therefore, your purpose or destiny will always involve the well being of others.
Now, what you must decide, is the category those "others" fit into. Are you most happy around children? If so, what gender and what age group? Perhaps you have a calling that impacts males. If so what age group? The same is true for females. Is your attention pulling you to work specifically with teenage girls, elderly women, infants, toddlers, middle age or young women? Keep in mind "others" can also extend to the animal kingdom. If you passion involves helping animals, then the same principles of category specification applies as well.
Once you've decided who you enjoy helping, then you need to identify whether you are prone to give services or produce products? Or do you enjoy creating things? Are you inspired and/ or inspire others through activities and recreation? Are you inclined to promote products? If so, then is it industrial, health, beauty, hardware, internet, clothing, telecommunications, auto, marine, food? Are you a service provider? Do you enjoy certain elements like water or aerial? Are you most likely to feel free outdoors in any weather? Are you artistic and creative? This list of possibilities can be quite extensive, and will require you to pinpoint what delights you and stimulate you most.
Now, once you realize what this "thing" is that you are supposed to do with your life, then guess what? you become responsible. There is a biblical principle most self-made millionaires have learned and have harnessed to maximize their potential. "Your gifts will make room for you, and bring you before great men". Be aware your talents are tools that define your purpose; therefore, you are already equipped to do what you are supposed to be doing; whatever that may be. Don't be foolish and bury it as the man in the bible did with his one talent. Your purpose is your wealthy place and you are accountable for your gift. You are accountable for your purpose. No one else can effectively do what you were called and chosen to do.
Here is a gentle nudge of encouragement for you, just identify what moves you, and then simply....move.
