Things have changed dramatically since the last time I attended a job fair.
I realized instantly that I was probably in the wrong place when the woman at the door asked me if I was an employer. Was it my suit? I asked myself. My shoes? My age?
I laughed inside but smiled politely. Things have changed dramatically since the last time I attended a general interest job fair. Honestly, I've never been to a job fair that wasn't geared toward hiring journalists. I felt a little out of place.
The employers at Armstrong weren't looking for award-winning journalists or experienced professionals. They weren't looking for grown ups. :::)))
The entire experience was enlightening. I've decided to keep looking for benefits because my insurance ran out last week. But I'm also pressing ahead, as my great-grandmother used to urge. I spent the morning seeking freelance assignments, advertising my book and reaching out to folks who say they want me to speak about HIV/AIDS and violence prevention.
When, I get done I'm studying math for my teacher's certification exam.
