What makes a black woman beautiful?
I think it's the african essence that we all carry.... Iam a a dark skinned dominican woman raised in the unted tates and black women were the ones who taught me how to feel and be beautiful. Were it not for the many beautiful sisters who invested in me as a child i would not be here today. In hindsight, I guess growing up in a black communitty and identifying with those who looked like me, despite of our cultural difference has enriched my life and given genuine insight and perspective to what is the overall black experience in america, i feel honored to be a black woman because it is the spirit of all those beautiful african women who've come before me that saves me and keeps me strong. that is essentiallty what makes me be a proud black woman, for sure!
I think it's the way we carry ourselves in general. We go through and we make it through, no matter the storm. I watched my mother and aunt all the time, along with the other women in my family and black woman have an aura of strength about them, no matter what we go through. It's that aura that others seek to and can't destroy. It's unfortunate when some of us fall into the clutches of drugs and other evils, but even then, there is a chance to bounce back. We carry ourselves with confident queens and, like Niurka LeBron, I am more than a little proud to be a black woman.
