Is watching church Sunday morning on TV truly worshipping? (1189 hits)
I had a friend say to me recently, that watching church on TV is the same as attending a church service. I am not one to knock what someone chooses to do, nor am I one to judge. However, I do know that I enjoy hearing the word in person and having fellowship with my sisters and brothers in Christ. I am not saying I have never watched christian programs on television, I have. I just personally feel that watching it on TV verses going to church in person is totally different. Maybe I am wrong. I need your feedback.
Your question of it truly being worship is different then how you presented your case. You enjoy hearing the words in person, whereas someone else may enjoy the ability to record their favorite speaker and without distraction hear the word. With your arguement is worshipping in the middle of the Altantic Ocean, crossing the Red Sea or sitting in the belly of an aircraft carrier with bombs stacked to the ceiling considered worship while 6000 men and women go about their business of cinducting on going COMBAT operations? Worship is different for each individual and whether it be TV, in a church, or any number of options that we can present here and undoubtedly hear…. the key is the undeniable LOVE that is expressed between human and the Creator…. And that the human takes time to in fact worship unselfishly and wholeheartedly. Some of us cant let ourselves go in public for fear of being caste aside by other "worshippers" So in those moments the clear connection betweeon one and their Creator must be allowed to take place no matter where they may be. Honestly I'd rather watch Dr. Charles Stanley teach me something in clear words and descriptions without the unnecessary antics of the our churches than to hear pastor so and so harp on me paying my tithes but he ignores me the rest of the week. Of course this is my opinion, but worship anywhere is worship the love expressed fom us to the Creator knows no bounds so to restrict the definition of worship to a building is as pointless as trying to comprehend what we can never begin to understand.

GREGORY GULLEY
The scriptures does tell us to fellowship with one another.....It also says when 2 or 3 gather together in His name, He is in the midst......attending church allows you to feel the actual presence of the Lord, now unless you can worship the Lord in your home I guess this is for you. I understand that there are people who has hang up about church, however people should not attend church for the sake of other people. Church is not a spectator sport. We all are and should be for the body of Christ where we can come together in worship to usher God in. Having the spirit of discernment would filter out things that are not of God.
I agree with you, going to a church building for service with 3 to 50,000 people is totality different than attending a service in your living room. But, going to a George Clinton/Parliament-Funkadelic thang is different than listening to it in your living room too.
YHVH, however, is not limited by the finite and whether you be in a building with those same 3 to 50,000 people or alone in your living room He/She/They are still present. Cheryl said, and correctly, that scripture says where two or three are gathered together in My Name, there I AM in the midst of them…that is true, His/Her presence is felt corporately, but ask Jonah if he didn’t feel YHVH’s presence while he was hanging out in the belly of that great fish.
And do people have hang up’s about the church? You bet you’re a$$ they do, anyone who has spent anytime in Organized Religion knows that church is a spectator sport. Yeshua didn’t walk this earth as a man to do O. R., he walked this earth to fulfill a mission, a mission that would serve as a vehicle to redeem man and a fallen creation back to Abba and to position man once again as king and priest over His creation. O. R. as it stands today, for the most part, is just an empty white washed sepulture lacking the Spirit of YHVH. Yeshua said that your traditions make the Word of YHVH to none effect, (paraphrased Mark 7:9). Don’t get me wrong Cheryl, I’m not saying that you are guilty of any of these things, as a follower of Christ, Christ-I-an, we should come together for strength, and for comfort, and for empowerment and then go forth again into this world in the spirit of the BIBLE, knowing that it means Basic Instructions Before Liberating Earth.
My dear sister Tracye, I commend you for seeing the truth of brother Gregory’s words and bring order to his thoughts and clarifying the thought that the real church is the body of Christ, your body, my body, and anybody who is a follower/disciple of Christ. Yeshua said…”if you continue in my words you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”, (John 8:30,31). You are correct all paths don’t lead to YHVH, but if you seek truth, no matter where on the path of truth you started or came from, you will come face to face with Yeshua and its through Him that you will find YHVH.

Yes watching Church on television is worshipping. Worship as Brother Gulley pointed out can be done anywhere.
Fellowshipping is different Vanest and that's really what you seem to be alluding to rather than worshipping.

I personally don't like to fellowship with 'church folk' but I do go to church because I try to adhere to Heb 10:25 which says that believers should not forsake the assembling together with one another.
If I could get away with not going to church...I think I wouldn't go because there is just too many distractions like Brother Gulley alluded to. I get tired of pastors wanting you to do this and do that and give for this and give for that. It's just too much drama at times.

Absolutely, Loving, worshiping, walking in the light, giving Praise and graditude, and Keeping a song in your mind and on your lips of the MOST HIGH, is suppose to remain with you on a constant level. Not just on Sundays, Wherever. I'm amazed at how many so called church people don't get that.(and actually are made to feel guilty if they miss church ) It's All About maintaining that spiritual level of living in the NOW moment, hopefully constant and consistantly.( And actually you can't go Too wrong if your focus is with the Supreme 24/7 !

..."In my congregation there are many shut-in and elderly members who cannot come to church, and who must have communion brought to their home or hospital beds..."
Excellent point Tracye. Some of my patients do make statements like I wish I could go to church instead of being hospitalized. I didn't think about this until you pointed it out.
I envy people who truly are enjoying going to church, because I really wish I could enjoy church attendance. There is so much going on with the false teachers as you say Tracye. We all need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, because these are evil times where even the elect of God will be deceived if not careful.

Like I said, it's about your own personal relationship with the ALMIGHTY. And it can take place anywhere, long as it takes place.
