When President Clinton was in office he pushed for this domestic peace corps style organization to help college bound students.
The requirements? 18-24 for one portion of it..NCCC. NO age restriction on being a fellow, or working for National Service Corporation.
Benefit? working in all kinds of non-prof agencies in the 50 states. From Homelessness, to AIDS, to sustainable "Green" projects. What you receive: a stipend (salary) plus a Scholarship for any Federally funded University/College.
You can do three tours. One year commitment. Consecutively or as able.
Benefit. 1. You get paid. 2. You earn a scholarship. 3. You help your community.
I did two tours, I am eligible for one more. I have two scholarships that I may use to pay down my own school loans, or for Law School.
