Tyler, a name he gave himself is on the cover of Ebony. Ajuba ,my buddy wanted to get the magazine, and I read it on the way to see the movie.
Ahh..it is Oscar worthy..my sisters. The acting is tight..the issues of race in this integrated cast are subliminal..Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard..cannot get better. They interpret their work with such intuity, crispness and warmth, that it calls to mind what the definition of thespian really is. Sanaa Lathan, whom the last time I saw her was 2-years old standing with her dad, Stan Lathan in front of the Lafayette Theatre in Harlem, is a strong actress and when pitted against Robin Givens love her or not..makes a statement about the acting ability of these two powerful actresses. Each held her own. The interplay is awesome.
Ajuba didnt' like Robin Givens. A lot of our folks turned against her during the Mike Tyson divorce..I can't really remember why we as women did not support Robin, who was a victim of domestic violence. Robin's mother Ruth Roper , and I met when I lived in Freeport, Long Island, New York. The role Robin plays reminds me a lot of Ruth Roper. A very pretty , and shapely sister who was professional and worked with computers in the 1980's. ; who tried to raise her two daughters the same way we try to raise ours. Her mom was going to buy a house that belonged to some "friend" of mine, but that didn't work out for a reason that actually is depicted in the movie..Suspense I am not telling..Yes, yes yes..four stars..
I applaud the different perspectives in this movie. Robin Givens play any role given to her with fierceness. Most men secretly hate on strong and successful BLACK WOMEN. SHe is that. I love Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard--excellent actors.

Sorry to hear that...like I said in a post I have six girfriends from elementary school..we still love each other, and a wonderful friend that I met in 2003.. I share with my friends..I don't moan, and complain and don't expect them to hold my hand..they are healthy, intelligent, beautiful ,accomplished (one is an accomplished homemaker!) emotionally stable and honest..I guess I got lucky!!:-) Maybe it depends on what we re looking for..we have similarities..including my 27 year old Russian girlfriend..in that case we are both immigrants,and compassionate ,generous and sophisticated about international things..my other sistah girl is just that a sistuH! we're both caring, honest, generous of spirit yet look at the age gap...differences..ultimately it's about who we are..isin't it?
