I have a girlfriend who’s childhood, like so many of ours, was anything but “Leave it to Beaver.” Currently she is the sole caregiver to an aging parent that hurt and betrayed her. Sis is angry about being the only one of her siblings willing to assume the responsibility and in many ways her outrage is justified. The thought she somehow should have been, should be a better daughter, a better person torments her. All the while, she lives in, deals with all the stuff inherent in being the parent of a young adult. Oh, and did I mention she’s also a grandmother. So often she feels powerless and caged, guilt-ridden that every fiber of her being is screaming “ENOUGH”. Still, “Lord, I’m not ready for my … to die”, echoes in her mind, every waking moment. Her tears come too easily, too involuntarily and she wonders, “am I crying for my … or for myself?”
My friend and millions like her are the very definition of HERO. Just Sayin

Got to Tell It by Minister Celeste Kelley is a timely reminder that there are ramifications when we talk too much.
“We have been Mis-Educated to think that just because we have a job that pays, we are working.” Anthony Stewart, Publisher The Mis-Education of the Negro Audiobook, admonishes a redefinition of “work” in his insightful I Can’t Find Work! I Can’t Find Clients! There Are No Jobs Out Here!

My View of the News
The Republicans speak with forked tongues; these poor folks just can’t get their lie together. They could be the modern Keystone Cops except they aren’t funny. Mercifully, they aren’t particularly consistent either, and their contradictions are, as usual, public and blatant. I’m not gearing up for a good rant. I think the venom slinging is counterproductive, but perhaps I can offer a little simplicity.
If you are among the people swayed by the nomination of Sarah Palin, please take time to watch this video. Compare, for yourself, the GOP stance 60 days ago with the cry for gender equality the Governor from Alaska is now fronting. If your friend, sister, mother or even your enemy is falling prey to the deception, refer them to this video. Nobody can watch this Fox News footage and remain deceived or confused about the GOP’s true position on women. That’s not to say there will not be those who choose to vote for, and justify voting for, the lie, but this video will make it clear who they are and in short order.
There are also those who believe John McCain when he says “Country First”; certainly, his record shows him a loyal and principled American. He is an honorable and dedicated servant. He believes in this country and his concern, his commitment is to the families of the United States, the families that look just like yours and mine. Easy, I’m just paraphrasing the hype. Again, I’m idealistic enough to believe that given easily digested, irrefutable facts most folks are able to discern chicken sh** from chicken salad.
Before you make the concrete decision that John McCain is the man for the job, please visit his homepage. There are a couple cool features there; his Live Event Viewer and Weekly Radio Addresses are neat ideas. I was more impressed that he gives points for donations and immediately categorizes voters, as he touts unity. Go figure. He asks for donations twice as often as Barack Obama, but provides neither impetus or means to include disenfranchised Americans in this monumental election. Lastly, take a momentary step out of your current comfort zone and visit Barack Obama’s homepage. Relax, I only ask a cursory view. Stay only long enough to ask yourself which page looks more like you. Which page reflects your family, your values and your priorities?
