I was reading a poem, on another site, about what it means to be a Christian. It was a sweet little rhyme and I was really getting into it, preparing my comments in my head as I read. Then I got to the last stanza; my joy turned to outrage and I wanted to scream. It said, “I’m just a sinner saved by grace.”
Where did we get that ridiculous notion? Sisters, brothers that is a lie straight from the pit of hell; a sinner saved is a sinner no more. You are a new creature. (2Co 5:17) You are a King and a priest after the order of Melchisedec; you are the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. (2Co 5:21) If indeed you are the body of Christ, you can be nothing less. Your hand is not less than your head and your feet can take you nowhere without it. Christ is seated on the right hand of the Majesty on high. How can the head be seated with God and the body be a filthy rag?
God promised restoration before Adam & Eve were expelled from the garden. (Gen 3:15) Jesus said, “it is finished.” (John 19:30) The promises of God are yes and amen, so if you believe in the resurrected Christ then know you are redeemed and restored to God’s plan and purpose; (Gen 1 & 2) I know you know there were no filthy rags in the garden then, and there are no filthy rags in the garden now.
We can be powerful or we can be pitiful, but we can’t be both. Which are you?
Michelle, i like the way you bring about the question: which are you? so who will you be in CHRIST, in your life? Amen
