The "Concession Speech"at the Democratic National Convention (134 hits)
Nice to quote Harriet Tubman. The most interesting interview was on the delegate floor, where one of our own sisters was so beside herself, that she saw herself and her future in Hillary's speech..well I don't think so. for one, there are a lot more white women than black women in this country, and that "white" includes, Hispanics, Asians and Europeans that would be hired quicker than an African-American for top jobs. This sister also brought out the lack of experience of Obama with a politcally immature comparison, she stated "would someone hire a college graduate fresh out of Harvard for a CEO job? the answer my dear is yes, if he is male, white and connected.
I see it all the time, I live on the East Coast. Times have changed, and you can be hired as a CEO out of Harvard specially with a Law degree.
The last time I checked I don't remember Abraham Lincoln being experienced. No President has experience until his second term in office. Not one.
The first four years are on-the-job training for every single President. How Black women see themselves mirrored in Hillary Clinton baffles me. Her supporters are a lot of women from Appalachia, they definitely do not see themselves on the same plane as Black,Hispanic or Asian women. Neither do the blue collar workers in mining towns across America.
Sure the speech was rousing, but she didn't shore up this perception of his lack of experience, which she could have by speaking to her long term relationship with Senator Biden, and could have plugged the holes of this perception by embellishing the Senator's foreign affairs and civil rights record, which she so cleverly failed to mention, and it is so obvious to Obama's supporters.
Obama will be fine, but what a rough road travelled!
