What would you consider to be your biggest challenge when starting a business? (318 hits)
I have been successfully operating my own Event Planning business here in the great city of Seattle, WA for the past 3 years.
My biggest challenge, I would have to say is marketing. I took over a networking group in 02/08 to try to develop my networking skills. Finding my voice in a room of hundreds of successful black business owners and professionals have been very challenging.
Working for a company that have executives that develops the companies marketing plans was very easy for years. Starting a company and developing that marketing plan by myself was very hard.
Very soon, I hope to be able to employ my own marketing staff. In the mean time, I will just have to do.
Starting a part time home based business was not easy either. Trying to make it full time is worse. But with GOD, my supportive friends and family I know I will make it. Watch out for me!

The biggest challenge is marketing. It blows me away at the number of people in business but don't market their companies. I'm also amazed at what black businesses spend on "press," considering how much the press overlooks black headlines.

Congrats Jennifer! Thanks for sharing...I have always known that marketing would be my biggest challenge...I think that's part of my fear of actually stepping out and starting my business. Thanks again for the insight. And don't forget about the little ppl when you make it big!
