I have some pointers on getting a husband...lol (560 hits)

Dr. Alduan, I can share some experiences with you. Some good, some not so good. I use to tell my girlfriends that if I truly wanted to be married, I would have no problem doing so. It has nothing to do with looks, nor s*x. Most good men (especially the smart ones) appreciate intelligent, strong black women, with morals and vaules, point blank! I also told them that it depends on the quality of man you want. It is not hard to find a loser who will marry you, especially if he feels he has something to gain.

An insecure man, might not appreciate and probably will not ask to marry you, due to his own insecurities; or if so, the marriage could possibly turn into an abusive situation. I have been there, done that too.

Looking forward to seeing you on TVOne.

More trouble than its worth. Unless you want a family. IT IS ALOT OF WORK,COMPROMISE, TRUST and FORGIVENESS. Just be yourself above all and never let a man control you. If he sees qualities in you that he is lacking and wants to complement his life, it should be a no-brainer. But nowadays some look at it as a way to move up in society and add to their income. TRUE LOVE is rare.

Tia and Seinah hit on some very great points. Like anything worth having, you have to work at it. By work I mean involvement & investment. It is a daily task that will cause you to suffer if neglected. I feel the biggest reason why most marriages don't work is simply because neither partner took the time to first look in themselves and decide what they want out of this union. Everyone has their own view of marriage, but how many people actually express their wants and needs before they tie the knot? Better yet, how many people actually take the time to find out what they want and need? Not too many it seems. Marriage can cultivate the love and growth between two people willing to come together as one body, but isn't it also a business deal as well. You become financially bonded to that person and responsible for their actions for better or worse. Shouldn't you try to find out what benefits this person will introduce to your life and if they are worth the risk. Love comes with a heavy price tag and sometimes you don't get what you paid for. I'm a firm believer prayer, yet I also believe in taking responsibility one's thoughs and actions. Which means being accountable. Being a strong Black Person is fine, but then what? You need to be intellegent as well and able ask yourself the tough questions.... then find the answers that work for you and act. Your spirit is like your compass and it will lead you to the right answers everytime, so use it. Many people end up with Mr./Mrs. wrong simply because they never take time to ask themselves or their partners the right questions therefore never getting answers that work.
