Five Finalists Named for the Heart of Innovation HBCU Challenge $10K Grant (536 hits)
The American Heart Association continues to break new ground in its commitment to health equity and innovation with the inaugural Heart of Innovation HBCU Challenge. This initiative engages students and alumni from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Black communities in the United States have a disproportionately higher risk of heart disease, stroke and hypertension and equally disproportionate high death rates. The Association is working directly with communities to develop innovative solutions in our own communities to eliminate these disparities.
Five HBCU graduates who are developing solutions that improve social drivers of health, improve cardiovascular health or promote healthy environments, are participating in a cohort-style accelerator program. The program provides exclusive resources and interactive curricula to build solutions and refine their value propositions. By fostering creative problem-solving and entrepreneurial thinking, the challenge provides a platform for emerging leaders to drive meaningful change in public health.
One solution will be the recipient of a $10,000 grant. The virtual finale will take place live online on February 24, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Central Time.
