Having a good, coordinated book title and subtitle can help a book generate sales, reviews, and improve its ranking among other books. For those who use Amazon as a publishing platform, having both can be beneficial. When we search for a book to read on sites like Amazon, we type in a description of what we want. This description could be words such as; fiction, romance, urban, black, white, self-help, motivation..you see where I am going with this right? The words we use to find a book will be used to generate a potential list of options for us to purchase from. So basically, we are using keywords to find and buy what we want. So that would mean that our book titles and subtitles are important when it comes to those keyword searches done by consumers. The hope is that our book or product will be on that first page generated by Amazon as an option to buy for consumers. We know titles and subtitles are important, but at the same time choose what you see, feel, want! Take my book “My Motivation.” I did not add a subtitle to the cover, I should have in my opinion. However; I did not know then, what I know now about gaining potential readers attention. That book will stand the way it is for now. My next one will have a title and a subtitle listed on the cover when I do publish it. Through this process; I have learned that your titles and subtitles are just as important as the words written inside the book. Again, I plan to use both next time, but I still plan to choose what I like and not what people expect a cover to look like.
