Adieu, Corporate America, Adieu... (581 hits)

Good Morning BWC ladies,
I was brainstorming on what I was going to post today while working at my janitorial job and it came to me so easy and quick. I'm working currently as a janitor but I am a high school and college graduate with almost nine years of military experience under my belt. However, the only job I'm able to find is housekeeping/janitorial work.

Well, my whole thought process has inevitably took a turn in a whole different direction. I was always told, or better yet "programmed to think" that college was the way to go to get a really good job with benefits and have that "American Dream" type of life. Two words: Yeah, right."

Here it is, straight no chaser: Employers are going to hire whomever they want, period. A few years ago, another young lady and myself applied for a company here that specializes in debt collection. The other young woman actually had a record for hitting a cop. I have nothing like this on my background. We both interviewed to be Collections Specialists. Guess who was called back and guess who wasn't? By the way, the other young woman was not black but half-Hispanic/half Irish. I really thought I had the job but no, I was not selected. Ladies, I just can't do this song and dance with Corporate World anymore. So I am officially and voluntarily bowing out of it for good. I don't know if I' in the wrong state but I cannot survive like this. I am way underemployed and making no where what I'm actually worth.

A while ago, my supervisor and myself were standing in one of the restrooms I'm responsible for at the school discussing the hand soap dispensers. I was not able to find anymore pre-filled plastic containers to replace the empty one. So my common sense kicked in and I went and found a big bottle of soap lotion, simply refilled the empty container and put it back in the dispenser so the kids would have soap to wash their hands with. When I told him this, he asked me how did I get the soap inside the plastic bag. I told him by unscrewing the top and pouring the soap in. He stood there and told me that he'd been working at that school for five years and never knew he could unscrew the top and refill the plastic bag container manually. Ladies, I just stood there for a second. I didn't say a word but I stood there and then I told him that I have to get back to work.

That was on my mind today and yesterday and I just wanted to talk to you guys about it. Fell free to share and express your thoughts on what you think but I had to get it out there. It was just bottled up

Until tomorrow, have a good one ladies,
Take Care.
