HOW TO ORGANIZE A COLLEGE-SIGNING DAY!! (1846 hits)
Deciding where you're going to college is always something to celebrate! On April 26th, we invite YOU to join the First Lady in celebrating every student that continues their education beyond high school by organizing your own College Signing Day Celebration!
In May of 2014, the First Lady launched her Reach Higher Initiative at Destination College’s 4th Annual College Signing Day celebration held at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Standing before thousands of students, the First Lady first shared her personal success story and then charged the audience by saying, “We need everyone reaching higher for our young people.”
Supporters celebrated the launch by wearing their college gear and shared why a postsecondary degree is important to them on social media using the hashtag #ReachHigher.
In 2015, the First Lady traveled to Wayne State University to attend the first-ever citywide Signing Day Celebration in Detroit, MI. At the same time, supporters across the country organized more than 600 Signing Day events honoring graduating seniors going on to pursue a postsecondary degree.
Reach Higher will continue the tradition on April 26th, 2016!
Whether you're a mayor, principal or college President, a high school or college faculty member, community organizer, a celebrity, a parent or a school counselor, we invite you be a part of this growing movement and celebration.
What you can do: 1.Check out the Signing Day toolkit for ideas about how to organize an event on your campus or in your community. 2.Organize an event. 3.Register your event at ReachHigher.gov. Here you can also make a request to have a Senior Official from the Obama Administration speak at your event. 4.Be ready on April 26th - wear your college gear and post photos on social media sharing why a postsecondary degree is important using the hashtag(s) #CollegeSigningDay #ReachHigher 5.Help us grow the #ReachHigher movement and spread the word!
