Two Women Who Were in Jail with Sandra Bland Share Their Own Opinions About What Happened to Her (831 hits)

A coroner’s report released last week ruled Sandra Bland’s death a suicide. Now, two women who were with her in jail are telling reporters they also believe her death was suicide.

Alexandra Pyle was the first inmate to come forward, The Blaze reports, and spoke with Houston’s KTRK. She said she was in the cell next to Bland’s, and attempted to comfort her:

“I was like, ‘It’s OK, don’t cry. It can’t rain all the time, it will be all right.'”

Bland talked to Pyle through a small opening between the cells for the next few days. Bland was upset that her friend LaVaughn Mosley hadn’t shown up to post her bail:

“She said, ‘He’s not answering, it’s going straight to voicemail. I don’t know why, I don’t know why. He said he’s going to be here in an hour, and it’s days later.'”

The reporter asked Pyle if she believed it was suicide. She replied:

“I’m positive it was, but that’s just me….

I don’t think the guards did anything, for sure. I don’t think she should have been in the other tank alone by herself.”

A second woman, who was also in jail at the same time as Bland and Pyle, agreed. The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, told the station:

“Nobody (the guards) went in or out of her cell during the overnight hours.”

But, she added:

“Sandra Bland was in there for something she didn’t deserve to be in there for, and I think that’s what everyone needs to focus on.

As far as the guards there in the jail, they were really nice. They just did their job.”

Bland’s funeral was held over the weekend in her home state of Illinois.

It was a trifling negro that didn't come to bail Bland out. I bet if the tables were turned, she'd have bailed his behind out. Click on the link to see video of what the other woman said Sandra told her.

The MSNBC site has gone to hell. I've tried 3 devices and can't get the video to play. Maybe you'd have better luck if you've got a Microsoft system, I don't. It's on 7/27, hopefully in the video showing Sandra's mom, sister, and attorney. It was after a commercial break after he interviewed them. Other people are complaining about the site too. I'll keep trying.

Sister there you go again, finding any excuse to defecate on black men. I notice you love using the word "trifling" to describe any black person who you are in disagreement with, you throw the word "trifling" around like some people love throwing the F-bomb around.

I feel sympathy for Ms. Bland and her family but why should her friend be obligated to bail her out of jail, when he wasn't the one who put her there? I don't know if Ms. Bland's death was murder or suicide, but the fact of the matter is, if she had not been out of control with her mouth, she probably would have still been alive today. Ms. Bland was irate and confrontational with the State Trooper when he was only about to give her a warning for failure to put on her signal before a lane change. Ms. Bland was told to get out of her car over 7 times. She did not comply, she fought with the officer and therefore she resisted under Texas law.

A lot of police officers allow their punishments to supersede the crime, but if the police ask you to do something, as long as its nothing humiliating, just do your best to comply and handle it legally later. you’re more likely to have a better evening if you cooperate, but Ms. Bland had an attitude and was trying to be all melodramatic because she knew she is out in public. Being disrespectful and aggressive during an encounter is not the thing to do. When you are aggressive with cops (especially if you are a black person) it can cause cops to turn on you in the drop of a hat.
