Nine persons are dead that attending prayer services at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, SC. after falling victim to a lone gunman who entered and begin shooting. The attendees were taken by surprise when who was described as a white male, between the age of 21-15, slender built fired at random killing 9 people and injuring at least 2 at a potentially Black church congregation in with an historic background.
News of the story has placed the city of Charleston in a questionable status as who would have such hate to kill people at a worship service and why? The Mayor of Charleston said it was one of the worst and unspeakable crime known in his city. Law officials are moving quickly to find the culprit, however are asking all citizens of Charleston to be on alert for any strange activity and to call police if they have any leads to the suspect who is still at large. Of the victims whom were killed one being the Pastor, who is also a State Senator. So far, according to police and city officials this has been listed as a hate crime. The church is part of Charleston historic district as one of it's older Black congregtions.
Investigations of the FBI has also be included in finding the lone assaliant. In an effort to find the suspect new information is being released and more information on how the incident occured will be available for news media after some of the family members are identified and notification to next of kin. Investigations and manhunts continues.
UPDATED: 06.18.2015 --The alleged suspect has been captured and taken into custody on Thursday morning around 10:00 near Shelby, North Carolina. A traffic check caused Dylann Roof to surrender without conflict. Aftermaths follow with stories of his arrest and the stories of the victims with funerals, and the trial of Dylann Roof.
..."Sylvia Johnson, a cousin of Mr. Pinckney, told NBC News that she had spoken with a survivor of the shooting who told her the gunman reloaded five times. The survivor, she said, told her that the gunman had entered the church and asked for the pastor. Then he sat next to Mr. Pinckney during the Bible study before opening fire.
“I have to do it,” the gunman was quoted as saying. “You rape our women and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”
Calling the shooting the work of “a hateful and deranged mind,” Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. said it was hard to imagine churchgoers at “a prayer service and a Bible service, and they’re speaking about the Holy Scriptures and praying,” while someone is “sitting there contemplating the act of murder.”...
