At least 9 people have been killed in gale winds that battered and whipped across Germany, Austira, Switzerland and the UK. Seven people perished in Germany, including two struck by falling trees. German news media stated that one man also died from a injury when he fell from a ladder trying secure a awning over his patio. Reports of gale forced winds were up to 120 miles per hour. Windstorms hit hard in the Netherlands where it toppled loories and blew down trees and debris. In addition, the strong winds had many falling down to the ground and taking shelter. Elsewhere, the winds caused power outages and slowed modes of public transportation.
