The parents of Michael Brown plan to file a wrongful-death lawsuit in the near future, their attorneys said yesterday morning. They will sue the city of Ferguson, Mo., and Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer who fatally shot their son.
That news comes one day after the Justice Department released a report of its investigation into the fatal shooting of Brown by Wilson on Aug. 9.
The report concluded that it was reasonable for Wilson to be afraid of Brown in their encounter last summer, and thus the officer cannot be prosecuted for killing the unarmed 18-year-old.
A St. Louis County grand jury already declined to indict Wilson on any criminal charges.
