Firsts again...
The State of South Carolina are now part of history making firsts for Afro Americans in America. The new State Senator was elected on November 05, 2014 in a win with it's election of Tim Scott.
Scott is the first Black to win this election since the reconstruction of South began. Scott was nominated to fill the State Senator's seat by Governor Nikki Haley after the former Senator Jim Demint's resignation. His election will run the term of two years to fill the rest of the term of Former Senator Demint. After the two years term he would have to run again in 2016 in order to fill the 6 year term as Senator. For now, he is the Afro-American first to fill both House and the Senate. Scott is a part of the Republican party.
Scott replied in a tweet:
"My skin color is talked about often> Tonight I want to talk about it for just a moment."--Tim Scott
