CEREMONIAL RITUAL STRUCK BY LIGHTNING HAD FATALITIES (451 hits)

During a burial ritual by the Wiwa Indians in the Sierra Nevada of Bogota a lightning storm struck fiercely killing 11 triburial attendees and injuring at least 21. The bodies of the 11 men will not be buried, but will be left in a hut built around where they perished. As the tradition of the Wiwa Indians they will abandon the village where they lived in following the nature of their cultures. In addition, a landslide also affected another tribe of the Arhuacas Indians killing 6 of their residents not far from the Wiwa's village. Heavy rains and storms seasons are in not uncommon during this time of year. At least 60 families of the Wiwa tribe will be planning to leave the village on Monday, October 13, 2014 according to news sources. The incident occured on Friday, October 10, 2014 and the ceremony of the burial of the 11 men was honoured over the weekend.
