NAVAJO NATION RECEIVES $554 MILLIONS FROM FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SETTLEMENT (1207 hits)

What better to celebrate Native American Day which was honored and finalized on Friday, September 26, 2014.
THE SETTLEMENT VICTORIOUS:
The Navajo Nation celebrated a long awaited victory after they will receive a poised settelement in the amount of $54 million dollars. The settlement finally came to an agreement after a long battle to proved that the land designated to Navajo's were misused and mismanagement of funds of Navajo's land and reservations. The lengthy law suit was filed in 2006 was filed at that time for 900 million. Tribes across the country have filed similar mismanagement cases have received paybacks totaling over 800 cases during the Obama administration. This one of the largest settlement in history restored to hundreds of thousands of Native Americans by the Federal Government involving trust funds. Navajo's Nation's President Ben Shelly signed the settlement on September 24, 2014 and embraced the long term settlement as a welcome to help improve the recovery of much of the Navajo's reservation which is in badly need of attention. The settlement will help aid over 300,000 Navajos that are residents of the reservation which covers over areas of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah.
