Best Practices to Follow to Improve Your Job Search Part 2 (2784 hits)

In Part 1 of this blog, we introduced you to three steps you can take to improve your job search efforts. We covered how to be strategic when reaching out to recruiters and company representatives, how to become proficient at networking and the importance of focusing on quality over quantity when it comes to apply for positions. Read on below to discover three more steps you can take to bring your job search to the next level.

Have a plan.
Most people have a plan for where they want to go in their career, but they don’t have a plan for how to get there. Having a plan for your job search will not only simplify the process, it can also alleviate some of the stress you might feel if you are changing up your strategy day after day. First, make a list of what you want most out of your career. Then make a list of “deal breakers,” or those attributes of a company or job that would make you unhappy. Once you have a really good of idea of what you want to be doing and where you want to do it set aside a certain time of day and create a consistent strategy to follow so that you do not feel like you are getting lost in the job search process.

Utilize all of the tools made available to you.
We look to experts for help in so many areas of our lives, but at UnitedHealth Group we really want to empower you to take ownership of the job search process.
