NINE DAY FESTIVAL CELEBRATES BI-CENTENNIAL OF STAR SPANGLED BANNER (216 hits)

7000 students wearing red, white or blue ponchos were arranged on the ground as a kick-off to celebrate the bi-centennial birthday of the Star Spangled Banner held on Wednesday. The nine day festival began on September 10, 2014 introduced with the live flag. This event was following tradition of the celebration back in 1914. Excited students took their positions-- and when they were in place a helicopter streamed their live flag from the air. The entire live flag took a global stream on You Tube as well. One of the visitors of the event was a baby when the first one was done is now 100 years old. Later, the Governor of Maryland, and other city officials made speeches and participated in honoring and singing the song of the national song of the United States. The free to all, more festival celebrations will run for 9 days in Boston. The actual birthday is Sunday, September 13, 2014.
