POLICE BRUTALITY WATCH: BLACK WOMAN CLAIMS THAT MILWAUKEE POLICE CHIEF INJURED HER ARM DURING CONFRONTATION (2371 hits)
MILWAUKEE - A local woman has accused Police Chief Ed Flynn of pushing her down to the ground, and causing injury to her arm. It's an allegation that stems from an ugly confrontation between police officers and supporters of Dontre Hamilton. But the police chief also gave his version.
The Coalition of Justice protested outside the Police and Fire Commission meeting Thursday night at City Hall. Police officers denied organizers entry due to capacity. Protesters demonstrated loud chants outside the meeting.
Chief Flynn denied all allegations from Thursday night's protest including police brutality. Andrea Rick said police officers, including Chief Flynn shoved her and other protesters while attempting to exit the building. Chief Flynn told CBS 58 the woman who made the allegations stated the crowd pushed her to the ground, and that officers offered medical assistance, but the women refused.
Protesters and the family of Dontre Hamilton seek three demands from the Milwaukee Police Department. They want the name of the officer involved in Hamilton's shooting made pubic. Plus, a retraction from Chief Flynn's statement in regards to Hamilton's character. And the family wants the incident report made pubic as well.
A Milwaukee police officer shot and killed Dontre Hamilton at Red Arrow Park on April 30th during a scuffle. The officer fired his gun fourteen times. The officer remains on administrative duty until a decision has been by the District Attorney's Office. Dontre Hamilton's mother told CBS 58, the Hamilton family supports the efforts by the Coalition of Justice.
