A Japanese whaling ship entered forbidden territory in Russia which caused Russia to take hold of them for questioning. The ship was said to have sailed in Russian territorial waters. Although the Japanese ship is not for catching whales it is crew would be collecting data of whale life. The ship was stopped by Russians on August 15, 2014 and has been held in port since then. Presently, the Japanese are making arrangements to have the ship released, but the Russians are still holding the ship until further notice for a release. Crews of the ship have been questioned as to why they were in their water territory. Tokyo has admitted the ship did go off course without clearing proper channels beforehand. It is not certain when the ship will be released to continue it's research. For the time being, the research is on hold as well.
