Slumped in the mud!
Washington State was slumped in muddy slides on Thursday, August 21, 2014 following heavy rains and fires. The mudslides closed down passage ways and roads and caused increased damages to cars, homes and land. Highway 153 trapped at least 12 motorists leaving rescue efforts to encourage drivers to leave their cars and come back when it was possibly safer to retrieve them. Other smaller mudslides closed nearby counties in Carlton where firefighters were battling wildfires where doused with flash flooding and mudslides also on Thursday night. With the additional wildfires burning, a heavy rain will produce landslides of the burnt landscape. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported at this time, there are some home damages that forced residents to evacuate.
