I recently got back into practicing the ancient Martial Art, Tai Chi Chuan
When I was in my twenties, I practiced Tai Chi for the phenomenal scientific proven benefits . Back then I trained with a teacher, who I now realize did not have a deep understanding of the practice beyond the physical movements, which is why I lost interest.
However, this time, it's different. I came across an article that mentioned the deeper philosophy and reason why Tai Chi was created beyond being a self-defense art form, and I am committed to perfecting this practice in my life.
Like a mad women, I am devouring books on the deeper, non-religious spiritual philosophy of the art while practicing daily with a DVD, until my class starts in a couple of weeks with a new teacher. I feel like I found the Golden Grail.
I realize that in my twenties, I was just too impatient to for Tai Chi, so I practiced Yoga. Now, after decades of meditating, and practicing Mindfulness, I appreciate that Tai Chi is a moving meditation to help me deepen my meditations. It helps you to connect with your inner power called "Chi" or life force energy. This is a great healing force for the mind, body and soul. Some call it God.
The philosophy at the heart of Tai Chi is: right now, at this very moment, you are absolutely perfect.
