Adorable 1-Year-Old Amputee, Kayden Kinckle Takes His First Step (878 hits)

I can’t stop thinking about Billie Holiday’s insightful lyrics, “God bless the child that’s got his own,” and these words couldn’t be more fitting for the most adorable kid I think I’ve ever seen. Kayden Elijah Kinckle is a one-year-old toddler and an amputee, but he didn’t let that stop him from taking his first steps. In the video, you can hear Kayden’s glee while he’s stepping with his walker, saying, “I got it!” In case you need some motivation for your day, let Kayden be a testament to the strength and willpower of mankind. He’s not old enough to know what being determined means, but he’s already got more determination than many of us. What a beautiful site to see this baby not give up on something as simple as walking.

Kayden was born with an Omhalocele, with means organs remained outside of his body. While he was in the womb, his umbilical cord was wrapped around his legs and feet, which lead to deformity. Doctors urged Kayden’s mother, Nikki to terminate the pregnancy because he wouldn’t make it, but she refused. He’s already had two abdominal surgeries and in January, his right foot and left leg amputated. Kayden’s family needs our help in paying for his medical bills. They have set up a GoFundMe page in his honor and so far have only raised $2,800 and counting of the $50,000 they are asking for. From their page: We are raising money for extra physical therapy visits, braces and prosthetics for Kayden and to pay off outstanding medical bills. We are also trying to publish a book about his life and prayerfully have him attend a camp for children with prosthetics in Atlanta when he is old enough. We are confident and faithful that God will make a way for him to have a wonderful life and not have to go to special schools. He is currently learning to walk with a walker even though the Doctors stated he wouldn’t make it and to terminate the pregnancy. So please help by donating whatever you can (no amount is too small or too great). Thank you in advance for your generosity.

God bless you!

Also, if you’re in New Jersey or in the area and you want to meet this inspirational child, his mother has organized a meet and greet on August 23rd. Check out the details here. If you take anything away from Kayden’s powerful steps, let it be this: there’s no stopping you, unless you stop you. This young man has no legs of his own, but he wanted to walk and he did. Let his words, “I got it,” serve as a catalyst for you to tackle the things in your life that you think are too challenging to face. Face them head on and think, “I got it!”
