“The View” Host Sheri Shepherd Wants “Nothing to Do With” Surrogate Unborn Baby After Marriage Folds (633 hits)
“The View” host Sheri Shepherd reportedly wants “nothing to do” with her unborn child now that her marriage has folded. Shepherd reportedly used IVF to conceive a child with her husband Lamar Sally but now is not interested in caring for the baby, who is being carried by a surrogate mother.
This story demonstrates one of the problems with in-vitro fertilization. The first problem for the pro-life movement is that the surrogate mother or the egg donor could decide they no longer want to carry the pregnancy to term and decide to terminate the unborn child’s life in an abortion.
But the second problem is in this type of situation where the egg donor changes her mind about the child. Then questions crop up about who will raise the child and whether the baby will have to be put up for adoption or placed in the foster care system — something that is less likely to happen in a natural pregnancy situation.
According to the London Daily Mail:
And according to TMZ, the 47 year-old has no genetic connection to the infant who was conceived through IVF with an egg donor and her estranged husband’s sperm.
Sources told the website on Saturday that she believes her TV writer ex defrauded her into having a child so he could get child support – knowing full well he was planning to file for divorce.
The pair first tried IVF with her own eggs but when that failed they opted to use donor egg with Lamar’s sperm and a surrogate to carry the pregnancy, the source added. And the website reports she allegedly wants a judge to rule she has no parental rights for the baby due at the end of the month.
Two weeks ago Lamar tried to get their whole divorce case sealed in court to prevent his wife of three years talking publicly about the marriage breakdown.
A judge said Sherri can chat about her divorce as much as she wants, but she can’t reveal the name and whereabouts of the woman carrying the couple’s child, TMZ reported.
Lamar is also worried that too many people at the hospital when their surrogate gives birth could hurt the baby.
Regardless of who, The audacity of these adults, sad indeed an unborn child is caught up in the affairs of adults who should be the protectors of the child I GUESS the surrogate mother got PAID now the couple is at war Hence power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolute, in my opinion it matters not what the outcome this child is being used as a pawn in a chess game the he / she can’t even play how sad

The Child --- unborn --- is being carried by his MOTHER and the child has a Father named Lamar.
For years we have been plagued by this surrogate NONSENSE
If you want a child and cannot physically have one --- ADOPT
Those that care for the ORPHAN are the Greatest of Humans and May they be Rewarded.....
It's a shameful thing. The Christian thing to do is to go through with the arrangement with the surrogate and try to work out joint custody, but these fertility cases are tricky. If everything was equal with the baby conceived through Sherry' body with her genetic material (eggs), then the case would be more straight forward. No with the genetic material being that of Lamar, he will more than likely be rewarded custody but I don't think Sherry can be held responsible for support since they are divorcing. A good Attorney could probably argue the prior arrangement as null and void with the dissolution of the marriage.
I do not think it is the Christian thing --- surrogacy reminds me of the paganChristian slaverAmericana method of the Master, making an African Asian Slave carry his child UNTIL he could SELL his baby
that system has been a part of the American History, Scholarship and Science longer than S H E R R Y
I was wondering if I should ask... Are we scrutinizing this issue more because it the woman that wants no claims to the baby? Hmmm??? Anyway, I don't think it would be a big news as it's making if it were Lamar that wanted to parts of the child.
