Dear Gardeners:
Happy June!
This month is filled with blooming things, that's if your particular weather is cooperating with just the right amout of rain and sunshine. There has been lots of rain, and many conditions haven't been favorable for blooms to produce in much array.
If you happen be one of fortunate to have many blooming things, and or only a few then let's see about making arrangements and center pieces to present what you've grown. Bare with me, I just make the best of what I have, but it's always a lovely arrangement.
You'll need
A VESSEL
Choices can be endless, from buckets, baskets, vases, jars, cans, and about anything that will hold water without leaking. You can find lots of things that will be a workable vessel and also coordinate colors with your room decor. The fun part is your imagination.
THE ACCESSORIES:
Bring your accessories into the imagination, things like ribbons, sponges, rubber bands sissors and some cases twists or wire can be a start. Be creative if you want your arrangement to have a zesty eye appeal. Think of your room and how want your creation to look! Sponges offer as a watering tool while wires help support hold or stand and ribbons offer beauty and enhancement to the display.
CUTTING THE FLOWERS:
Here's the major part of the arrangement. Cutting the bouquet! Depending on the flowers you've grown you just start cutting. You don't need to measure the stems, but try making them all around the same length. Most flowers from a home grown garden can be arranged together. If you have only a few blooms, then make the best of what you have. You want to be sure your vessel is just ther right size, but a single bloom in a vase is so beautiful and as gracefully lovely as several. Try making the cut at a angle instead of straight and same some of the green leaves if you desire, but they can be shedded off for just the bloom only. Rinse them in cool water to help rid of little pests like small spiders, and lady bugs.
THE ARRANGEMENT--MAKE IT PRETTY:
Take your cut flowers and make the arrangement pretty! Most of the time your longer stems should be on the outside rim of your rim with shorter stems rounding inward. However, an arrangement can be the opposite with taller in the middle and smaller stems on the outside rim. Both ways work absolutely fine. As for colors if you have a mixture of blooms keep an eye appeal by blending them with to your suitable liking.
Since these are only suggestions you can check out many places on flower arrangements. There are often classes you can take, books and magazines offer great tips and I stress indiviuality to each one to express your own garden growths.
