GLACIERS MELTING HAS SCIENTISTS WATCHING (379 hits)
Your World Science News Day 12 May 2014 Antarctica
Two new studies has published concerned over melting glaciers in the West Antarctic ice sheet. The researchers reports; one published in Science Magazine and the other from NASA both indicated that melting glaciers have already begin disappearing at a fast moving process. Both concluded that global warming is accelerating and that melting of the glaciers are headed for unstoppable melts. The melting glaciers also is having an effect to rising sea levels up to at least 10 feet. The progress unstoppable could lead to a total collapse in the next century. The studies have been conducted over 40 years of close watches and observation along with collected time lapse photography. With global warming being a major cause researches also reviewed that climate changing winds and the natural earth's warm water at the ocean's depths are pulling waters to the surface are additions causing ice to melt. As far as recommendations to start saving the ice sheets in the cold sheets; scientists in both studies feel there is little that can be done to stop the ice from melting. Future of recovery and; or saving the ice sheets are looking bleak.
