DEAR GARDENERS IT'S A JUNGLE OUT THERE! MAY 2014 written by MIISRAEL
Dear Gardeners:
No need to be frightened!
The jungle out there can be the look and the detailing of your gardens. If you're into a jungle look this summer you can create the look just as you like it. Jungle planting! Take in all the ferns, the blooming trees, and elephant ears you'll visualize what looks much like a tropical and or jungle look.
If you haven't made plans to plant jungle like plants you're not to late just yet. Most of these, the ferns, blooming trees and elephant ears just to name a three can be ready for your planting places. During this time they grow fast in the early days of spring and during the summer months they take off! Draw out a landscape to help your plans or if you're experienced in gardening you can picture it all in your head to complete the compliment of your house. If you're just willing to do one of them in several places of your yard or on your summer's porch all choices can make it a jungle. If you haven't done your yard clean ups yet, then the jungle out there may having you working to condition your yard into shape. It's a jungle, but it can be all so rewarding and beautiful. I hope you'll try something easy at first if you're new to gardening. Anyone can grow, it's just learning basic care of plants. Sun, rain and God will do the rest! Be happy too! I'll write next month.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN ELEPHANT EAR IN REAL LIFE BUT I LOVE THE PICTURES I SEE OF THEM. MAYBE I NEED TO PLANT ON AND GET TO SEE ON IN REAL LIFE, HUH?LOL!!!(SMILE)...
I DO HAVE TO STOP PUTTING OFF CLEARING OUT MY 'JUNGLE' WHERE MY STRAWBERRYS ARE BEFORE THEY START TO GET FLOWERS ON THEM...THANKS LOADS FOR THE REMINDER. (SMILE)

ROBINSON IRMA
Hello Irma! I've with the great help of my son cleaned up and finished putting in the elephant ears! Rather he cleaned the yard and I did the other! Irma, I have a pesty racoon! Any tips? I've never encountered a wildlife visiter to my garden before.

Miisrael, animal control should be able to trap it and release it somewhere else. Or you can buy a trap known as Havahart and your son could do it.

Steve Williams
Great tips Steve! I will check into it in a few days. I put something heavy on my garbage top and for the time being if he or she doesn't chew through that hard plastic I at least feel safer by taking out the trash. I will do one of the other or both really soon. I'll give you feedback too. You're so helpful. :)
