Clingy Women (696 hits)

Clingy Women

Scripture Reference: Mark 5:24-35

The woman with the issue of blood as it is clichéd in the church today is a well-known ‘preach-it-from-the-pulpit’ sermon. A few facts about her:
-She bled or hemorrhaged for 12 straight years (mind you, Tampax was NOT around back then), -Her bleeding issue made her an outcast to the community.
-She spent all the money she had being seen with many doctors and not one could cure her.
-The Bible does not state how her condition began. We do not know if it was something she ate, if it was a genetic disorder, or even if she was abused.
-We do know one thing; she was clingy.

Yes, I said clingy. Clingy women are needy women. You know, they are those women who are always in need of something, yet unable to give, or help put in. The women who just cannot let go and hangs on to past relationships, revives bad memories of yesterday, forever in need of advice or ego stroking-prayers or something...just like a toddler hangs on to his mother’s leg. I need, I need, I need is their story.

The term “clingy” has such a negative connotation to it Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines clingy as to hold onto something or someone very tightly; to stay very close to someone for emotional support, protection; to stick to something or someone.

In relationships, many of us find a clingy partner rather annoying. This clingy woman suffocated everyone around her. Usually clingy-needy women are desperate women and the Scent of a Desperate women smells awful. It will make you gag.

No believer is above reproach. If we tend to look down on people in a negative way simply because they are clingy naturally (not actually knowing their need), how much more so spiritually? “Like, Oh my goodness, she’s always in the prayer line and I know she stepped out at the club Saturday night; Really, how can she be taking communion and she shacking up with what’s his name?; She knows she need Christ in her life; How can she feel the need to lift up her hands to praise God and I know about her situation?” What does God have to say about needy, clingy women?

Actually, God doesn’t mind it one bit. God created you to need Him. In Genesis it says God is your life and length of your days. Don’t get your behind on your shoulders as my grandmother used to say. You can’t breathe on your own. Everything you have is because of Him so it’s alright to cling to Him. Grab on to Him and don’t let Him go. In fact, God welcomes our clingy-ness. He has spoken in

Deuteronomy 13:3 (Amplified Bible):
“You shall walk after the Lord your God and [reverently] fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and cling to Him.”

In Joshua 22:5 (Amplified Bible)
“ But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord charged you: to love the Lord your God and to walk in all His ways and to keep His commandments and to cling to and unite with Him and to serve Him with all your heart and sold [your very life].”

Let whomever say what they want to say. Your relationship with Christ is your business. When you make a mistake and fell straight on your face, cling to Him. When your hair is done, nails manicured and feet pedicured, cling to Him. If your babies are acting up, cling to Him. If you can’t even muster the words to pray because all kinds of craziness has been going on in your life, CLING TO HIM!

Your righteousness is a fact, not somebody’s opinion (2 Corinthians 5:21), so if you are clingy like me in the sense that you need Christ every day and you can’t live without Him, you don’t know what you would do or where you would be without Him, then keep clinging to Him. The Bible says when you draw near to Him, He draws near to you and He won’t hate-on, or brush you off if you have a broken heart. It’s okay to be clingy with God, He’s your Father. You’re supposed to go to Him when you are in need, rather than someone off the street. That’s what Satan and his forces want you to do. They don’t want you needing God for anything. Cling to His wisdom. All you have to do is say the word and He will provide it to you or whatever it is that you need.

Here’s a promise to the clingy women out there: God specifically said in Philippians 4:19 (Amplified Bible)

And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every NEED according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Yes, I admit I am a clingy woman when it comes to my God and I’m cool with that. Are you?

For His Glory!
