MCHM CHEMICAL IN TAP WATER CAUSES DRINKING WATER CRISIS (794 hits)
YOUR NATIONAL NEWS DAY 2 JANUARY 2014 West Virginia
NO DRINKING!
At least 9 counties in West Virginia are without drinking water due to a chemical spill. This has also caused a crisis as there will be days without water. Residents of the counties cannot drink, or wash clothing nor anything having to do with the drinking tap water. President Obama has called the areas a disaster and FEMA has shipped by truck at least 1 million bottles of water for those affected. The spill of the chemical MCHM which is used to clean coal leaked into the water supply on Thursday December 02, 2014 from a Charleston, WV water station. At least five people were reported ill from drinking the chemical diluted water from the tap. Clean up efforts are in progress, but the days may lead to weeks and the crisis will cause some to worry about water uses. The contaminated water cannot be cleaned with boiling and residents are urged to use bottled water until the crisis is cleared up.
"Yikes! we often take for granted a glass of water until we realize what if we didn't have any we'd panic?" "If you suddenly get thirsty for a drink of water, I understand..."
I heard about this disaster! It's so sad. My heart felt prayers go out to the residents, because we all need clean drininking water. We can't function without it!
