Today in History December 22, 1864 During the Civil War, Union Gen. William T. Sherman sent a message to President Lincoln from Georgia, saying, "I beg to present you as a Christmas gift the city of Savannah."
Answer: Dixen is NOT one of Santa's reindeer. The commonly cited names of the reindeer are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. They are based on those used in the 1823 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" (commonly called "The Night Before Christmas"), which is arguably the basis of reindeer's popularity as Christmas symbols. The enduring popularity of the Christmas song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" has led to Rudolph often joining the list.
Funny! I like that popular song of Rudolph...There are many other versions including Leroy and Roosevelt, {the only reindeers that were Black} and Randolph which is a brown-nosed reindeer. Countless others I thinking may be around as well.
Hey, we just finished watching "Rudolph" and before that was "Frosty the Snowman"; now we are watching the "Home Alone" Marathon. My little one is really enjoying all these classics I enjoyed as a child, but I think I'm enjoying them more!
