FAST FOOD WORKERS STRIKE FOR A BIGGER QUARTER (363 hits)
Your National News Day 05 December 2013 New York, NY
Take no fries....
That's because your orders might not get taken as workers of at least 100 chain of fast food workers organized a national protest. The food chain of McDonalds and Wendy's are among two major fast food chains where protestors rally. The main reason is employees want a raise in their pay. Most workers complain that the pay is way below what they feel is fully deserved. Some cities such as New York, Washington and Detroit reported that at least 50 to 100 protesters waved signs and blew whistles to distract customers from entering and ordering their fast food. Protesters are rallying to have a pay raise up to $15 dollars an hour. However, some are routing to even get at least the $7.25 an hour to be hiked up to one dollar more an hour. The protesters consist of mostly union workers, who have jobs as service workers for the fast food companies. Today marked their first try at protests for higher wages, yet more protests may be organized in future dates.
Mixed views of the protests included that jobs are too hard to find to be walking in protests. Some are just saying they are fortunate to have jobs.
