Theft increases are invading churches in Bolivar. A recent theft happened when thieves tunneled under thick walls to steal a Colonial Era Roman Catholic Church of an 18th Century oil painting . It was the third time the church had been invaded by thieves. Along with a growing history of theft several churches in the area and in other Bolivian cities and remote areas have been plagued with thievery. In January 2007 12 gold crowns were taken from a church with an estimated value of 1 million dollars. The thieves go out of their way to steal any precious arts, and or statues bearing jewels and strip them by any means necessary. Although the churches have alarm systems thieves have knowledge of disarming alarms in order to steal the valuable and irreplaceable loot.
I believe they'll stop at nothing. They are what they are thieves. Also Jen, you know many churches are faced with robberies, and also break in stealing audio and or video equipment even the copper from the air conditioning systems. They have no remorse. No compassion and certainly have lost respect where people go to worship.
