TRUE LIFE SITUATIONS: APOLOGIES ARE THE REALLY THAT HARD TO DO? (100 hits)
Just finished reading a great article about apologizing. The article gave three main parts of an apology; Acknowledgement, explanation, expression of remorse and adding in some cases some sort of reparation. Giving all three is necessary for a complete apology. The apology should not have the words if, or but and be very clear. The article really offered some great tips. One also saying not waiting long to give the apology recommending it be done within a 24 hour period. Keeping the conversation sincere and showing some emotional expression it said was also important.
All and all the article had some great tips. I would agree they were well mapped out. However it is important most of to say "I'm sorry" and really mean it than just speaking the word to comfort someone who has been offended. It's a true life situation that some people actual don't believe in giving apologies! I tend to think it is quite necessary, even if you may feel you haven't meant to do harm, but to that person it's a healing process that downplays hate. I wouldn't recommend over apologizing to prove you're sorry, most times that person will have to determine you are serious and accept it. If they reject your apology there's not much you can do to change their mind especially since you know you really meant it. The apology is great, and forgiveness is better. To apologize is not a sign of weakness, but it is a strong characteristic of honesty and integrity. Next time you have receive an apology, or give one remember it's so much easier to be sincere and honest, and to forgive is so much easier than carrying on a grudge.
