WHEN GAS WAS TWO-DOLLARS ...GAS PRICES RISE MORE THAN LAST YEAR (1557 hits)

YOUR NATIONAL NEWS
JULY 2013
DAY 30
National

The price at the pumps this summer on the average is 18 cents more than last year around this time. Gas prices continue to rise even though there is no major crisis of crude threating shortages. The average price of gas according to some sources is $3.65 TO $3.0 cents a gallon although in some state across the U.S. prices at the pumps are reading $4.00 and over. This is causing gas pump prices to also rise during the summer months of all July and including August.

Pump prices have excuses for heights, one specifically elevating from the protest in Egypt according to one news source the price per barrel rocketed up to $100 a barrel since March 2013. The increase from last year's prices of the fuel is nearly 28 cents more. Summer travel is slightly down, yet people are not without feeling the pinch in the wallet when it comes to fueling up. On average many gas consumers are not filling their tanks, but merely buying just enough to get from point A to point B without running out. Frequent trips to the gas station is another site common among gas pinching to keep on motoring!

It seems most of the common people are just buying the steep price, and looking for competition of the lowest place to purchase fuel.

"I've been yielding on about a half a tank each week! Cost around $30 overall"
That $2 gas price has become obsolete!

Yes, IR I know it will pass...Well, the only thing we can do is be grateful for one day at a time. I make it because I show a stronghold in faith. I am happy to have breath! That outlook is as my mom used to say is "just enough"

Don't think those prices will be that low aever t the corner store anymore....
It would be nice though if a grocerer would opt to a prices like that at least once a year! The shelves would empty quick. Of course, there would have to be a limited amount to each customer. People would be like a Taz monster!

I've been wanting to make some, it's been a couple years. I won't have it for this Sunday, need to get the starter going, but next month I'll bring you some.

I like sourdough breads!....Warm breads, rolls, with some melted butter.

Steve, I was just being funny too, I'd like to see that gas $2 price once more.

MIISRAEL Bride
I'll settle gladly for $3.

Miisrael, have you ever made any from scratch? It's the simplest thing.
Wednesday, July 31st 2013 at 7:02PM

Just water and flour for the first 2 steps, plus salt and oil when you make the bread.

Sounds easy enough to make though.

Hey Earl....9 cents a gallon! I'd fight for a price like dat! LOL!
I suppose there's always been some competition with gas prices since there's been gas stations.
Cant' imagine that all pumps have the same price would attract customers, mainly the attraction goes with one having the lowest price.

@IR I make it all the time! It's usually made on stove top like pancakes, but you can bake it but it's usually turns harder if it's bake. Instead of using milk, you use hot water, or boiled water stirring in 1 egg and tossing in right in the skillet.

AND...another recipe for cornbread is buttermilk cornbread. It uses buttermilk or soured milk to give a strong sour taste to it. Great with pinto beans, greens or any boiled pot veggie.

That's an odd last name, but I've never heard it before. The closest I heard to Chinyere is Chism but there are plenty of McIntyres around. And I've heard the name Wentworth.

Re: Hot water a Tennessee product..
No, not at all. I think it's made a lot in the south but not strictly in Tennessee It's very common in many southern states.

Miisrael, let me brush up on my recipe and then I'll pass it along. Basically, you start off mixing one cup of water and one cup of unbleached flour. You put that in a warm place and give it a few days till it starts bubbling. That's your starter, it produces the yeast. When that's going well (producing yeast) you take most of it and put the remnant in the fridge to stop the yeast growing, that's for the next batch. To the rest of the starter, you add again equal (approximately) parts of water and flour, let it sit in a warm place until it doubles. They call that the sponge or something. When that's done you add flour, oil and salt, and that becomes your bread dough. You work that like any bread dough, let it double, punch it down, shape into a loaf, let it double, and bake.

I admit I like pinto beans another way too... "WITH MILK AND BREAD." That's buttermilk with crumbled cornbread and pinto beans in a bowl sprinkled with sugar.
If that sounds like it tastes terrible, I absolutely love it. But does make a strong GAS! Laughs...
That's the price of that kind of food fuel....

@ STEVE

Thanks... You are saying the unbleached flour will become like yeast? I've seen where it should be covered with a cloth too.. So I don't need to add any yeast to the unbleached flour? I'm familiar with making biscuits and I know to kneed and roll it out with flour when I'm ready to bake it.

Yeah, the yeast is produced naturally. And you do cover it, but loosely. When I make the starter I do it in a small tupperware container and just set the cover on top without sealing it. I'l ldo a batch to refresh my memory and then give you the specifics. Need to talk to my dad too, but he had a stroke a few years back and might have trouble telling me.
