Rachel Jeantel: Rush Limbaugh's Use Of 'N---a' Sounded Racist (VIDEO) (2313 hits)
Rachel Jeantel responded to Rush Limbaugh's use of the word "n---a" during an appearance on HuffPost Live that aired Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Limbaugh had used the word out loud, saying that he was now able to utter it because Jeantel had, in his view, said it was fine to do so during an interview with Piers Morgan.
HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill played the clip for Jeantel, who said she had never heard of Limbaugh before. He then asked for her reaction.
"When you say it out loud in person in front of people, that's disrespectful," she said. "It is racist for an adult."
"Does it matter whether the adult is black or white?" Hill asked. "Yes!" Jeantel said. "When you heard Rush Limbaugh say it just then, did it feel racist to you?" Hill said.
"Well, yes," Jeantel said. "But I can't judge him."
We as Black people can't have it both ways. Do we have the exclusive rights to the N-word? If she can say that Rush using the N-word sounded racist what about the use of the racial slur, "cracka"? I'm happy I don't use racial slurs. It makes no sense to me to do so.
Jentel if she could speak and write English, could get a book deal. She should stay off TV. I think she should respect Trayvon's family enough to do that.
This young lady doesn't seem to know how to articulate herself. Her speech skills are lacking! She does, however, seem very sweet and I kind of understand what she's trying to say with the way teenagers speak to each other.

A voice of reason! I absolutely second that notion and it played heavily in the court case. She didn't communicate well and regardless to her sweetness, she shouldn't be talking on TV or Radio. She should keep shut and have some respect for Trayvon's family. Give it a rest.

In this interview with Hill he put her completely at ease. She articulated so well that I can now see what probably happened. Zimmerman walks up and grabs Trayvon. Trayvon punches him in the nose and Zimmerman goes down, cracking his head on the pavement. Zimmerman, pissed, gets up and shoots Trayvon in retaliation.
And as long as we're ignoring things like Zimmerman's good character, Rich Lowry, let's ignore the fact that Zimmerman refused to take the stand in his own defense. So much for good character.

I hear you. It's important to pick and choose one's battles, because there are something's not worth wasting time over especially Racial slurs because many have and are still dying over these things. Me personally, as I've stated before, I don't use them and I'm not teaching my son to either. I'm sure he will hear it, but not from me.
We each have our own set of experiences and the reason I spoke of different worlds is because I have lived in different worlds. And when I once had a .357 magnum pressed between my eyes. it had nothing to do with race. But it did have to do with the street.

I'm trying to make sure that my son learns what he needs to earn and not what Irma thinks I need to be teaching; like you alluded to -- everyone's experience is different and although I can empathize with your experience with the street or Irma's experience with Jim Crow... I don't share them.
