IS YOUR LAWN THIRSTY?
Dear Gardeners: JULY 2013
Hello Gardeners: Happy July!
Brace and get ready for a hot summer! Those summer days can be quite hot and cause your garden to be mighty thirsty! Too bad I'm not an irrigation specialist! However, the summer can be hard on your lawn too. So this time I'll take time to give a few tips on watering your lawns. Almost every home owner who keeps a pretty lawn knows during the hot temps the lawn tend to turn hard and dry! So let the water hoses run.
They'll run up your water bill too!
These tips might help you:
When to water:
Most experts suggest you water twice a day
Early morning and after the sun sets in the evening.
Use sprinklers:
Sprinklers are ideal to watering lawns. Most can operate with a simple garden hose but you might have to set out several of them or move them around. Make sure you have each area of your lawn divided equally for water saturation.
Feeding your lawn:
Because water and sun can burn your lawn if it's not done properly, you may want to feed your lawn while waterings. Look for a good purpose lawn feeder, one which fight weeds and gives good fertilization is recommended. Check at your garden center for tips on buying a good fertilizer for those hot summer days.
Well if you get busy, don't neglect to keep your lawn mowed properly and then you'll see a greener grass growing. Your lawn mover will thank you! Okay, that's quite the size of it for fair size lawns. Huge lawns may need more extensive care and an expert lawn keeper. The cost may be a pretty penny, so check around if you have a huge property lawn to manage.
Meanwhile, while you're watering don't forget to drink plenty of water for yourself. I want you to be well hydrated too! You know I'm crazy about ya! After all you're my friend.
